Medical help for those affected in Ukraine
War-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) affects around 25% of the Ukrainian civilian population and a further 25% of the population have a significantly increased risk of developing PTSD in the future. The best possible treatment for as many of those affected as possible is the aim of the international initiative set up under the direction of the Rotary Club of Lüdenscheid. In co-operation with 4 Pentangular partner clubs (RC Canterburry (England), RC Leiden (Netherlands), Leuven (Belgium) and St. Quentin (France)), this now 6th Joint Pentangular project is being carried out. The project pursues a sustainable approach that focuses on training, modern therapy methods and targeted on-site care by local therapists - in line with the requirements of the Rotary Global Grant.

Good starts with a small step - and your donation is exactly the step that can make a big difference.
Priorities and measures
1. Training and education

- Cooperation with a qualified Rotary Club in Poland or, in the event of a (hopefully) early end to the war, directly in Ukraine
- Implementation of on-site training and monthly online training sessions and supervision
2. Direct patient treatment
- Use of proven, evidence-based PTSD therapies in existing, local humanitarian rehabilitation centres
- Utilisation of innovative methods such as Virtual-Reality-based exposure therapies
3. Equipment and support/strong>
- Provision of Virtual-Reality headsets and PTSD-specific software applications in local language for scalability.
- Sustainable support for local therapists in the integration of new methods into everyday therapeutic practice
Expected results (by 2028)
- 30 trained psychotherapists
- Treatment of more than 6,000 affected people in total
- Long-term knowledge transfer, local capacity building and establishment of therapeutic networks to help those affected even after the end of the project
- Secure and transparent budget utilisation with clear target parameters (KPIs)
